Vehicles in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers stated they were notified by a resident who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then found multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.

A high-ranking political figure stated the incident made him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
